"You've just always been the powerful one. I'm the smart aleck."
"We're the same. I'm night, you're day. You have to have both to have life."
"You can hide in the shadows."
"And you can shine like the sun. This prophesy is about both of us."
Destiny doesn't think she's anything special. The daughter of an outcast witch. Her twin, Fate, is her best friend, so that's awesome. They're experts in love potions and selling them to crazy high school kids.
So they can buy more shoes.
But that all changes when their school is attacked by warlocks - warlocks who want her power for their own. The attack launches her onto the path the stars have chosen for Destiny, Fate, and their long-lost father.
Oh, and Quin.
Quin, who's the son of a witch, only tolerating Destiny's presence because she can save his mother. Except along the way, that all changes, and he realizes Destiny is everything he never knew he wanted. The only problem is she thinks if love can be made from a potion, it can't be a real thing.
If they survive this, he's going to prove her wrong.
Cauldron Bubble Toil Trouble Volume 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Wendy Knight Lori Prince Books
I don't normally read books solely about witches. But I'm in love with this author and have been socking up on all her books. I love the writing style and the strong characters she creates. She destroys cliché's and YA tropes all while bringing in new fresh material and unique plots.Right from the start I was hooked, the way the twins where introduced had me. They're witty, snarky, strong, loyal and they love their mom. This whole book was geared towards them and their mom. Sure there was a love interest, and what not, but that was developed naturally throughout the story, it didn't overshadows the main issues. It actually make the plot stronger.
[I would like to point out that a book should be done on Alina and Luca. They are by far the cutes and most heart string pulling coupled. They need their own story, right until Luca finds Alina again.]
Fate and Destiny are something else. They ping off one another, they make each other stronger but most of all they are their own separate person. My favourite part of this whole book, besides the end.. that kiss-swoon worthy- Was a simple conversation between the two in their won yard, they were talking about a spider playing cards, it was literally a convo about nothing. It was refreshing and downright hilarious and real.
The action, heart pounding, nail-biting and exciting. At the end, my heart almost stop. There was a split second where I though one of the mains was going to bite it. Thank god she wasn't killed off, that would have been cruel and truly an act of malice.
I can go on and on and talk your virtual ears off about how much I loved this book. So I'll end with my high recommendation, and that you all need to read this outstanding, one-of-a-kind book! And not just this book, my recommendation extends to all Wend Knights books. She is kicking down YA walls and taking names.
Happy Reading

Cauldron Bubble Toil Trouble Volume 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Wendy Knight Lori Prince Books Reviews
This is a slightly altered version of the review I've posted on Audible
It's an audiobook I'd recommend to everyone who likes YA fantasy/paranormal novels. The story is fast paced, with a lot of action and quite a bit of magic, and the main characters are really likeable. It is engaging enough to have kept me listen to it in one day (and it's almost 8 hours long))
The story is quite simple warlocks kill witches to steal their magical powers; witches lose the battle cause there are no more potion witches amongst them - they've all been killed by warlocks... But then there are Destiny and Fate (and their mother) who nobody even knows about) And you guess what? They ARE potion witches, powerful ones, and... they are the twin witches from the prophecy which says they'll save the world and end the war... Sounds really simple, right? And it really is, as stories go, but it is also well told, in an engaging way, with some turns and twists on the way, so you never get bored) Also, both main and background characters are quite interesting, with their own issues, with some difficult choices to make... There are a few memorable moments in the book, some action packed, some emotionally wrecking, like the moment when Destiny's mother uses a spell trying to relieve her daughter's pain (I won't give you details - "No spoiler" policy)) or when the girls meet their father for the first time...)
So, although this may not be a kind of book that is revolutionary for its genre, it's fun and good enough to give the reader/listener a lot of pleasure and that's why I'd recommend it to all those who like a nice summer read/listen)
As for the interpretation
I liked Ms Prince's narration a lot, especially the interpretation of the two main characters, Destiny and Fate. The girls were given very distinctive "voices", which really helped their personalities shine brightly) They really were "night and day" - one almost always timid and shy and trying to stay in the shadows, the other louder, more cheerful, with her heart on her sleeve) I liked that a lot)
Ms Prince had more difficulty with male characters, probably because she herself is a soprano, so when she lowered the pitch of her voice too much it sounded a little slurred and unnatural (I don't know why but it reminded me of Don Corleone's voice - you know, with that characteristic hoarseness..)) But it stopped bothering me after 5 minutes, really)
(I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.)
P.S. I liked it well enough to go on and buy all three books in the series)
Fate and Destiny are twin witches. They've grown up with their mother and no coven their whole lives. High school is where they weave their spells and sell their potions, making a lot of money. However, they've been creating a bit of trouble for themselves getting caught. It's not until they transfer into their third school, that the past their mother was trying to keep them from finally catches up with them.
A prophecy one light, one dark. Many secrets are revealed, along with terrifying new enemies, changing the course of Fate and Destiny's future forever. With help from their newfound friends and long lost loved one, a battle has to be won and the outcome rests solely on the twins shoulders.
Will they fight their new destiny or will they fight the evil that's chasing them? This is one battle you don't want to miss!
Wendy Knight meticulously crafted a world full of witches and dangerous warlocks; each character so well defined, you feel as if you're a passenger inside the book itself. This is definitely a must-read! I look forward to book two! 5 stars!
